This week’s prompt is for me to share connections with my readers!

… not like a bug crawling all over people, which can be annoying, but through social media. I share stories and artwork and photographs on facebook, instagram, and sometimes on X, formerly known as twitter. If you want to find me on facebook, look for https://www.facebook.com/walking.tourist You can find me on X at https://x.com/alicesbears and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/grand_adventure27
And speaking about bugs, I really didn’t see very many during the Grand Island Garden Walk on Sunday. Fortunately, I still saw a few insects. The most delightful of the insects that I saw was this dragonfly, who very politely sat on a fence? barrier? long enough for me to take its picture several times. I have never seen a dragonfly that was as good at posing as this lovely dragonfly. I will readily admit that I think that all dragonflies are lovely. It’s one of my top three favorite insects. The other two are bumblebees and butterflies.

Here is a portrait of a bumblebee. Isn’t it so fuzzy and adorable?

Here is a portrait of a butterfly. These butterflies are gulf fritillaries. You can find them in warmer areas. I saw these butterflies in 2018, when I was on a walk with Voices for Creative Nonviolence in coastal Georgia. I always planned on returning for another visit because coastal Georgia is gorgeous but, unfortunately, early in 2020, COVID struck and then Voices for Creative Nonviolence disbanded. So, a return trip didn’t happen.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed the insect portraits. Feel free to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and X!
I like your choice of bugs / insects – the dragon flies always remind me of that song, about the frogs hopping and eating the flies yum yum, but in the illustrations they often put the dragon flies buzzing above the pond water. The lady bugs (or lady birds) are one of my all time favourites – always found them adorable! Did you make the drawing/painting Alice?
I once actually saw a dragonfly eating an insect. It was the most incredible sight. The dragonfly grabbed the insect mid flight and gobbled it down. Definitely a fast eater. Didn’t waste a lot of time thinking about its food or seasoning it, lol.
Yes, I did make the drawing, alice! Thank you!
