talking to the me that I was…

Today’s prompt from the Ultimate Blogging Challenge is to give advice to my teenaged self.

My advice consists of just three words: you are enough.

You do not have to be better than anyone else, and you are absolutely not worse than anyone else.

You are enough just as you are.

Your imagination is enough.

Your enthusiasm is enough.

You are smart enough.

Your effort is enough.

You don’t need anyone else’s approval because you are enough just as you are.

Do you feel as if you’re not enough?

You’re not alone.

Even the kids who don’t show their feelings have these concerns.

Do you struggle with schoolwork?

Is it hard to pay attention in class?

Does the noise hurt your ears?

You’re not imagining it. It really does hurt your ears.

Is school too much? Do you feel that you are getting a message from school that you are not enough?

You don’t have to believe it.

You are enough.

All the time.

There are other ways to get an education besides school.

You are only required to attend school until your sixteenth birthday.

Then you can make other choices.

Remember.

You are enough, no matter what anyone says.

You deserve support.

Not bullying.

You deserve better.

Please remember.

I can’t stress this enough.

Also, I love you.

That is what Mrs. Whatsit told Meg.

It was true for her and it is true for you.

Be yourself. You are enough.
