The winner of the caption contest is Jeanine Byers, with her caption “Sweet Reads, Sweet Treats and Art”! Congratulations, Jeanine.
Yesterday, I interviewed the winner of the contest, as Jeanine’s prize was that I would post her caption and tell you some interesting facts about Jeanine. So, first of all, this is Jeanine. She has a radiant smile, and she blogs about emotional healing and self care, spiritual growth and so much more.
So here is a little information about Jeanine that I managed to gain via an online interview yesterday.
I focused our conversation on three topics.
Food! (including those sweet treats!)
- favorite treat to have at midnight: Grandma’s vanilla creme cookies.
- Favorite dessert at any time of the day: apple pie a la mode with whipped cream.
- Favorite beverage to have with that pie: sweet tea
But… the weather’s been kind of cold. Although Jeanine said that cold weather would never stop her from enjoying delicious ice cream, she does have cold weather favorites, which inclulde soup and a cup of hot tea.
“Well, my favorite soup is Progresso’s Rich and Hearty Lasagna Soup, but if I could get myself to make it more often, I like homemade cheeseburger soup even better. My 2nd favorite would be chicken pot pie soup and I intend to try the Pillsbury suggestion where you put the biscuit on top.”
Music!
My question: if you could be any musician, who would you choose to be?
“That is such a tough decision! So many of them whose voices I love have died of cancer, gone through a difficult divorce, died of drug overdoses or had other really difficult struggles. I’m thinking of women like Olivia Newton-John, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey. But I’ve recently been falling in love with Jon Batiste. He is a musical genius and he has such a joyful, infectious spirit, even though he’s had some difficult times too. I’d love to have his spirit, his honesty, his ability to love and his genius. So I think I may just land on him.”
I asked for more information about Jon Batiste, and this is what Jeanine told me:
“He comes from a well-known musical family, centered in New Orleans. He grew up performing with his family-of-origin, with a ton of musical cousins, etc. He graduated from Juilliard and a few years later, became the band leader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In 2023, his American Symphony documentary was featured on Netflix, and it is the story of the creation of the symphony, juxtaposed against his wife’s battle with cancer. The latest thing he’s done is his Beethoven Blues album, which is amazing. I haven’t bought it yet but i will. He takes you on a ride that starts out with traditional classical music and then, as you listen, it becomes gospel or ragtime, or other genres.”
blogging!
I asked Jeanine what she liked best about blogging, and this is what she said:
“I like being able to share my message about and my experiences with emotional healing and self-care, spiritual growth and expansion. And when people respond, it’s a great way to have conversations about what matters to me. When those conversations inspire someone, that’s the icing on the cake!”
Thank you so much, Jeanine!
Oh, and take a look at Jeanine’s blog. You can find it at: https://www.thecomfortapothecary.com/blog
I just watched and listened to that video! The question that came to me, in the middle of it, was what would you like to let go of right now, if you could? And my answer was anything that keeps me from feeling the love of God all around me. And then, suddenly, against the backdrop of the video, I could feel it!! I hadn’t seen that video before – I must go save it to my Jon Batiste playlist. Thanks for sharing it, and for choosing and interviewing me. (((hugs)))
I love that additional question! Thank you so much, Jeanine. And thank you for taking the time to talk to me and for being such a good sport about the random topics!!!! {{{{{hugs back}}}}}
