Today’s prompt from the Ultimate Blogging Challenge is to share personal photos from my latest traveling adventure.
In February, I traveled to Florida with friends, where we spent five days exploring, collecting seashells, and watching the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico. Watching the sun vanishing beneath the horizon felt beautiful and magical. The colors around the sun that were reflected in the water felt ethereal. Before long, I knew, the sky would be dark and full of dreams, hopes, and wishes.

We stand and watch the sky. The setting sun is framed in gold, and the rest of the sky has turned a vivid shade of blue. The goldenness reflects in the water and the sand.

The radiant color spreads and it feels as if the world is about to become enveloped in gold. How can we be afraid or sad when such magic happens just above us?

At a different place, the evening sky is redder, and the sun finds a cozy spot to sit and relax for a moment. The red sky is the joy of sailors. “Red sky at night, sailors’ delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors’ warning.”

The sun is barely peeking over the horizon now. It leaves behind a red sky. The colors are the stuff of our hopes, dreams, and imaginations. We try to reproduce the beauty that we see with colored pencils, paint, and ink. We try to capture the moment with our cameras or our phones. When we do these things, we can keep the colors forever.

The sun has dipped below the horizon, leaving the beauty of the sky for a brief time before darkness takes over. The blueness is slowly giving way to purple. The palm trees are in silhouette, pointing to the sky, looking as if they are standing guard over the water.

A bird flies over the pastel sky. The sun is now gone, on its way to shine over far off lands. It is a good thing to share the sun. When the sun comes back in the morning, we will welcome it with hope in our hearts for a gentle and sweet day.

Good night, sun. Will you send the moon to give us a little light in the darkness? Good night to the water and the seashells and the birds. Hello, nighttime. We welcome your mystery and the stories you tell that help us sleep better.
The photos and the captions together are so poetic. It’s amazing how many colors I can see in each of these forever images. So beautiful!
Thank you so much.
What a stunning sunset. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! It makes me want to head to the beach.
Thank you so much! Have fun at the beach.
Perfect photos for today’s prompt! I love going to the beach and watching both the sunrise and sunset. Here in SC we get better sunrise pictures in my area but both are awesome!
Thank you so much. Enjoy your beach!
Alice, your pictures are beyond gorgeous. I love a good sunset, and this is definitely one. Thank you for sharing these special moments.
Thank you so much, Tamara.
Alice, I don’t always follow the prompts, but you have done that today in fine style. Your images are stunning, and your narrative is heartfelt and poetic. Today, I wrote more like a reporter. You are inspiring me to look for more opportunities to write poetically, mystically even. Thank you!
Thank you so much. This means so much to me. I really appreciate you.
