Yesterday, the prompt from the Ultimate Blogging Challenge was to write about a trip that I took. I also promised to demonstrate one of Natalie Goldberg’s writing prompts, so I’m going to combine both into one story.
The prompt that I am going to use will start with “I remember…” As part of the prompt, Natalie emphasized that the memory could be of something that happened a long time ago or even a second ago.
I rmember a fun day yesterday at Presque Isle State Park with my friends. We drove down to Pennsylvania and spent the day exploring beaches. They were beautiful. We saw several of the beaches at this park. Most of the beaches are numbered, but some aren’t, which includes the beach that I photographed above, called Sunset Beach. From what I was told, the sunset at this beach is spectacular.
Yesterday was the first time that I had ever visited this park in Erie, Pennsylvania. I would definitely want to go again. I had heard that there was seaglass on some of the beaches. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any sea glass during the time that we spent on the beach. It wasn’t a waste, however. I found all sorts of river rocks. They are flat rocks of various sizes and they are perfect for rock painting. I managed to make a nice collection. Plus Nancy gave me even more rocks, which was very sweet. I can see each of those rocks as a canvas for a painting. I’m thinking abstract or geometric designs. I’m kind of leaning toward geometric designs because I really like doing them and, if I add the right colors, they remind me of Mondrian.
Yesterday turned out to be a perfect day to visit Presque Isle. Yesterday was the first day of a week-long event, called “Discover Presque Isle.” The balloons and the kites that I photographed were among a number of activities that are scheduled for this week at Preque Isle State Park.
One of the other activities that we found yesterday was a craft show. There were so many different venders, selling their products and showcasing their creativity. At one booth, I bought two pairs of earrings and then created “friendship earrings” for Debbie and me. We each wear one earring from each of the two pairs. Our earrings are delightfully mismatched and colorful. But Debbie and I, while wearing our earrings at the same time, are a matched set with each other. I love the whole mismatched earring concept. I think that it’s fun and creative.
Here is some cool sea glass art. Isn’t that adorable? The artists who were selling their creations have incredible imaginations, and the things that they created are so very beautiful.
Not only are the beaches delightful, and the week’s activities fun, the lake (Lake Erie) is spectacular. I really enjoyed looking out at the water and seeing the birds and the rocky islands.
My friends and I had a wonderful time yesterday, and, if you’re looking for a nice outdoor space to visit in northwestern Pennsylvania, I would definitely recommend a visit to Presque Isle State Park.
Yes the butterfly š¦ sea glass in frames are so elegant and pretty . The huge balloons for the sea horses are very impressive indeed Alice!

Iām curious how you paint on the river rocks .
How do you paint šØ is there a special paint you need to use to stick onto the rocks ? Or do you need to put a varnish on the rocks first or a type of translucent glue first ?
Hi Alice. I use acrylic paint on the rocks. Usually I will start with a bottom coat of either white or black. That way, the color that I add will show up better. Once I’m done, I spray the rocks with a sealant.

Itās such a simple opening, but it can uncover details that a straightforward travel recap might miss. Did the writing bring back anything you hadnāt realised you remembered? āŗļø
I hadn’t really forgotten very much, but the writing helped me to preserve my memory before it became distorted. I discovered that this is a great way to preserve memories.
