winter blues…

Well, I think that winter now feels virtually endless. I look outside and I see partially melted snow, bare trees and decaying plants from the last growing season. The decaying plants can stay until it gets consistently above 50 degrees F (10 degrees C). Decaying plants and snow serve as insulation for the ground and for the dormant insects beneath the surface. Nature is good, for sure. So, to deal with my being tired of winter, I took a bunch of recent pictures and tinted them blue so they would show off those wintertime blues that I feel. Anyway, this is (almost) Wordless Wednesday, so, without further ado, here are a few blue photographs.

Niagara River. The trees across the river and to the left are on Strawberry Island. There are bald eagles that nest there.
The ice clings to the shoreline.

  1. Ooh, I love that, Alice!!! What a beautiful way to express what you’re feeling. OTOH, “oh we’ve got pollen, right here in River City!” 🙂 If I did something with that, I’d probably take a picture of a flower, and draw a red circle around it, with a diagonal red line across it.

  2. Alice, I love how you found a way to artistically express the winter blues through photography. The blue tint really captures that feeling of endless cold, yet there’s a peacefulness to it as well. I especially love the shot of the Niagara River—it reminds me that nature keeps moving, even when everything feels still in winter. Thanks for sharing these.
