|The dining room at River Lea features a wide assortment of foods. My pear-applesauce is at the lower right side of the table. There’s a big serving spoon in the bowl. Most of the pear-applesauce was eaten during the potluck dinner.
|It’s time to eat! We selected our food and our beverages and went outside to eat underneath a large tent. It was a bright, sunny day, a good day to enjoy a meal outdoors with friends.
|Because of financial burdens in 1935, the Great Gorge Route was ended. The cars were burned, and the tracks were removed.
The loss of the trolley was, in my opinion, a great tragedy. At the time that the trolley ran, people could easily travel between the United States and Canada via trolley or bus or boat. The time of obsession with border security was still many years in the future. I will readily admit to being in favor of open borders and quality mass transit. I believe that life is better when beautiful things, such as the gorge and the beautiful rock formations and the parks, are accessible to all.
Carol Rogers said that we have lovely hiking trails, including the Great Gorge Railway Trail and the Devil’s Hole Trail. She also said that it would be nice to have the steps along the Whirlpool Rapids repaired. Having a safe set of steps would give people another opportunity to have a wonderful adventure.
