Happy Earth Day!

“Tree are a poem the earth writes across the sky. Humanity cuts them down for paper so we may record our emptiness.”

 – Kahlil Gibran

Happy Earth Day! This is a great day to celebrate the our beautiful blue home, Earth. I really look forward to this day every year because it’s the day that we can all get together to enjoy the celebration of this radiant planet, teeming with life and color. This year, not so much celebrating for me. I’m isolating at home, after having been exposed to COVID-19. So, instead of sharing pictures tomorrow of our local celebration of Earth Day (an community clean up), I am sharing some pictures of the beautiful places that I’ve seen, close to home or in my travels.

So pretty and bright.
Here’s something really wild. Palm trees, despite having the word “tree” in their name, are actually considered to be grasses. I took this picture when visiting family in southern California, in 2018.
Southern California is an arid climate. hence, this amazing cactus.
Palm trees (or grasses). These are in coastal Georgia, near St. Mary’s, Georgia. The climate is just the opposite of southern California. Coastal Georgia is very warm and very humid.
This is one of the beautiful wetlands of coastal Georgia.
This is a beautiful wetland at Buckhorn Island State Park, Grand Island, New York.
This wetland is in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.. This is Owasco Lake, near Auburn, N.Y.
This is the beautiful Niagara River. I took this picture in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
This view of the Niagara River was taken in Jospeh Davis State Park, in Lewiston, New York.

I hope that you enjoyed my little tour of our gorgeous Earth. Enjoy Earth Day, which really is every day! Will be back tomorrow with the letter :”S”!!!

Can’t say that I minded your gorgeous nature pictures though!

  2. Sorry to hear you’ve been exposed to COVID, hope it’s very mild. I love all your Earth Day photos, to me I could live Earth Day everyday!

  3. Alice, I am so sorry you’ve been exposed to COVID! My late husband and I had it, like a dry cold, for 3 weeks, before the shots came out. I hope you’re only isolating, not sick. Loving your beautiful pictures as always.
