Today, I wondered what the picture of the flower would look like if I painted it with orange and black ink, which seem very October-ish and Halloweeny. I had been experimenting with mixing orange and black, always with a large amount of orange and a very small amount of black. Together, they produce a brown. I have been told that the color that they produce is still orange, just a darker shade of orange. If you want a lighter shade of orange, you could add white, to produce a tint. So, this is what I got…
Same design, different effect with two separate media. I think that the top image looks very stylized, with very little shading and with lots of glitter. It also feels very flat. The bottom image is also flat but it comes across to me as being more three-dimensional. In the next few days, I might try a few other media or maybe different types of paper, such as black paper, which I have come to enjoy very much. The light colors especially pop off the page. So the the experiment will continue. Feel free to join me, if you like.
I love them both! To me the top one almost has a 3-D look and reminds me of an embroidery type fabric we had in our collection years ago! I love the other one to go with fall! Can’t wait to see what else you come up with.
Hey, thank you for the idea, Martha! I think that I will try embroidering the same flower onto a piece of fabric! Until you said “embroidery,” I hadn’t thought of doing that. It could make a nice cushion!
Alice, I love the 2nd one. My favorite season is fall and I love these colors together. They are so rich looking.
I look forward to seeing your other interpretations. Thank you!
Thank you! I might have a few done in the coming week, and I will definitely share them here!
love both but if I had to pick one, it would be the second one – those colors are among my favorite!
