A few days ago, I shared pictures of rabbits. Today is time for birds. They are everything that I want to be. They have good eyesight, and they can fly. Even when they are not naturally waterproof, they know how to make themselves waterproof. Some birds have an amazing sense of direction and they can fly for thousands of miles. The pictures below were taken in both Western New York and Southern California!
I have been using the Merlin app lately which identifies bird calls. I have quickly fallen in love with it, using it sometimes several times on a hike… I love being able to identify birds from their call!
I cannot rave enough about how much I love birds – especially the birds in my direct neighborhood and the birds I discover on hikes! When I can correctly identify without using the app I discovered (I use Merlin, do you use any?) I feel so proud of myself! I recognized some of the birds in your pictures… I was especially pleased you got a Mama Mallard and her ducklings. 🙂
Nice captures, especially the mama duck and ducklings. I, also, use Merlin. The second from the bottom bird is one I don’t even recognize – I wonder if it is one of the California birds you took pictures of.
