#WordlessWednesdays
This Saturday and on February 25th, the Grand Island Historical Society and the Buffalo Launch Club are presenting a program titled “Boats, Booze and the Buffalo Launch Club in the 1920s.” Back then, the Buffalo area was a major site of boating regattas. Prohibition was a thing, and Grand Island, being isolated, was a great site for rum runners, who snuck the alcohol from Canada, where alcohol was legal, to the United States, where it was not only illegal, it was actually (and bizarrely) unconstitutional. Here are some images of a visual display planned for the program. They were taken at the Historical Society’s museum at River Lea in Beaver Island State Park.
Where will this be held?

Alice, I love vintage displays, and this one is no exception. Wish I could yacht over and join the geoup on the 25th. I will smile as I think of you attending.
