So… in April, I packed up my computer and traveled off to sunny southern California, where I spent a week. I had every intention of continuing the blogging challenge there… except for one thing! I forgot to bring the power cord for the computer.
insert buzzer noise here
Needless, to say, my blogging challenge abruptly ended. When I returned home, I had so much work to do in catching up with newspaper stuff that I had no time for the blog. And now, it’s time for a new blogging challenge, and a new chance to prevail! And here we go! And this isn’t my only challenge! I am also doing the 61-day Daisy Yellow Index Card a Day Creative Challenge. In fact, I’m on day 31. The challenge started on June 1st, and it ends on July 31st.
It’s all about transportation
Each week, I get a theme. For this week, which is week five, the theme is maps, And each day, we get prompts. Today’s prompt is charcoal. The face is drawn in graphite (#2 pencil) and the shading is done with charcoal.
“Mapping your mind, mapping the world, mapping your dreams”
Transportation is all about maps and little slips of paper and following a schedule that is not your own. It’s all about folding your dreams into a time table and wondering who you will be when you arrive at your destination. Or transportation could be about the journey. It could be about the people you meet along the way and the stories that they tell you. And, if you arrive late at your destination, it doesn’t matter because you’ve experienced the life changing effect of the journey.
Tomorrow: I have no clue. Come back and find out!!!
I love your words: “It’s all about folding your dreams into a time table and wondering who you will be when you arrive at your destination.” Oh, and you are certainly a very busy person!! And you certainly must love Challenges!!!
Thank you so much! And yes, I do love challenges!!!!!
Alice, when you said, “insert buzzer sound here”, I got up to get my buzzer. Then I realized it says, “That was easy!” which was not at all your point. I am so sorry your cord got left back East! I love your surrealist face-over-map, like Alice traveling beyond and beyond. Where do you hear about these many challenges you follow?
Thank you so much! I am so happy that you like my surrealism! I’ve been exploring all sorts of art styles, and it’s been a great adventure.
I heard about the index card a day from an art teacher who recommended it to me last year! I loved it so much that I decided to do it again! Then, late this winter, I heard about the 100-day art challenge from another blogger, Lily L. She mentioned that it was day one, and I impulsively decided that I wanted to do that, too!
Wow, so many different interesting challenges you are doing. Love your artwork.
thank you so much!
Oh my goodness, Alice! Your art is stunning!! I love it. Especially the eyes. I’m glad you’re back for this challenge.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Alice, am loving your yellow index cards each day.. so very creative takes on each day’s prompt… and today’s is really cool!!
Thank you, Vidya. I had a lot of fun with that prompt! I have discovered that I really love collage!
Beautiful art, beautiful thoughts. The art so represents the journey.
Thank you, Alana!
