This is Alice, writing the blog post
I have participated in the Ultimate Blogging Challenge for a while now. I think that I started in 2014 or 2015. Something like that. It’s been a good experience. I’ve made new friends through blogging. Really good blogger friends who have taught me so much. And so many great reader friends who encourage me by commenting on my blog posts and help me to be a better writer.
One of my goals in my blogging challenge is to talk about my growth and change in the course of the month, as an artist and as a writer. Today, on the first of the month, I can say that I never imagined that I would create abstract art. I thought that my style would always be representational. But I discovered that I could create abstraction and that I enjoyed playing with pure form and shape that didn’t have to look like anything.
Another goal is to give you a behind the scenes look of how I as a journalist put together news and feature stories, as well as to offer examples of how I would write a story without the restriction of objectivity (or the attempt at objectivity). There are many ways to tell a story. In the newspaper, I choose the one that I believe to be the least subjective. In my blog, I am freer to express myself so I will choose other techniques to tell the story, including creative nonfiction and even poetry.
Well, stay tuned and keep following my stories for the month of October! We start with the earliest part of autumn and end with the fun of Halloween.
This is such a cool challenge, and I love that you get to look on your growth over the month. That can be so inspiring and transformative, truly!
I look forward to reading your examples!
Thank you! I look forward to chatting with you this month on my blog or yours!
Hi Alice, Yes, here we go again. Doesn’t that sound like the lyrics from a song?
Does Boo Boo Bear sing?
I think that Boo Boo Bear could sing!!! And, yes, here we go again does sound like the lyrics from a song!
Good luck. I’m one of many who met you through the UBC. I haven’t participated in several years so haven’t been around your blog much. Boo boo bear is a sweet piece of art.
Hi Alana, thank you so much! I’m really happy that you like Boo Boo Bear! And it’s always great to hear from you!!!
