Today’s prompt was to share something from my bucket list. Two weeks ago, I talked about how I discovered that I had become a bird watcher. Well, now, I am a full fledged (pun intended) bird watcher, and I get so excited when I am able to get a good photograph of a bird. I don’t have great camera equipment for bird photography so, if I am able to take these pictures, I am ecstatic.

Which means that the thing that’s now at the top of my bucket list is to visit places where I might see and photograph interesting birds. Birds that I can’t see at home. Colorful birds. Great big birds. Birds in all kinds of weather. This would include places such as Galapagos Islands and Bhutan, where birds are protected. One species, described as “critically endangered,” is the white bellied heron. It is considered to be one of the world’s rarest herons, and Bhutan is one of the few places where this bird can be seen. The lava heron is only found on the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador.

The Galapagos Islands also have a species of penguin only seen there, as well as a Galapagos hawk and a flightless cormorant, among many others. Bhutan’s native birds include the beautiful nuthatch and the blue necked crane. In my dreams, I would take pictures of these birds and then share them here! For now, I am posting pictures of birds that I can see locally.
