Today’s prompt is to describe where I would like the blog to be in 90 days…

In 90 day, my part of the world will not be green. So, I will need to add the color by creating art, which includes drawing, painting, and collage. My goal during those 90 days is to post once or twice a week about the various holidays and about the change of seasons. Right now, autumn is glorious. It has been mild and the leaves are beautifully changing color. I love photographing the change of seasons. I also love the autumnal foods: winter squashes, apples, and so much more. Although winter is not my favorite season because it’s cold and dark, I am aware that winter solstice is the day with the smallest number of daylight hours. After that, the light gradually starts returning.

Last night, I saw these lovely colors in the sky. It was almost 6:30 p.m. In a few days, with the switch back to standard time, the sun will set closer to 5:30 p.m. I’m not sure that I like that. I do like the extra hour of sleep, but the early sunset? No. It just means fewer daylight hours for me. That translates to more hours when I have to be indoors because the roads in my town tend to be unsafe at night. I do have a reflective vest, but are drivers actually watching out for pedestrians? Unfortunately, I would say that the answer is probably no. There are a lot of cars on the road and there are many people who drive who really shouldn’t drive for safety reasons. They might be too aggressive or too slow or they think that the rules of the road are optional. They get tickets and they pay for their tickets and go to driving school, but they are still driving and they might not necessarily drive more safely. They just don’t get caught. They drive because no other form of transportation is efficient for them.
A car culture is fun if you can afford a really cool car, but having that many automobiles on the road, with one person in most of them, is not an efficient or a sustainable way to transport large groups of people. It also promotes economic inequality because people who cannot afford to own and maintain a car are shut out of many types of employment. Employers will frequently specify, “Must have own transportation” when advertising for new employees. In the United States, the assumption is that everyone has a car, so politicians don’t talk about more inclusive and more environmentally friendly transportation policy. It is sadly a nonissue to many people and to the government.

In the next 90 days, I am hoping to share more examples of my imagination and to tell more stories. In January, my blog will switch to storytelling mode. I anticipate an adventure, featuring Bearnacle Bear and the Steampunk Bear.
Stay tuned!!!
