buffalo’s vivid, colorful murals

Buffalo is a city full of murals. It’s amazing to see ordinary buildings being transformed into works of art. Today, I’m sharing pictures of some of the downtown murals. They are bigger than life and in so many different styles. Each one has a story to tell and each one is engaging and beautiful. It transforms a simple walk in the city into a journey of exploration. I have the opportunity to travel from mural to mural, and what could be better than that?

Here is a closeup of a beautiful floral mural.
I can’t even describe how much I love this building. The edifice is a garden of wildflowers.
How could I not love this? There’s so much purple and turquoise! They are absolutely my favorite colors!
This is part of a huge mural that is all about shapes and bold colors.

There is a cat, too.
Who doesn’t love receiving a postcard, especially one from colorful Buffalo? Unfortunately, the building looks like it’s seen better days.
I took a hip hop dancing class a while ago. It was fun and energetic. The music is great for dancing. Hip hop dancing is incredible to watch. It does take a lot of energy to do it, however.
This mural features an interesting fact of Buffalo history, which is that Buffalo was one of the first cities to have widespread electrical lights, which is why Buffalo is called the “City of Light.”
Buffalo parking garage with a mural celebrating parking and cars. Quite honestly, I have a love-hate relationship with cars. I appreciate everyone who helps me with transportation. And I love to see cool cars. But, on the other hand, living in a car culture, where all public transportation is far out of date and seriously underfunded, is not all that great for a variety of reasons. One is that it’s reduced job opportunities of many people who simply don’t have the resources to own and maintain an expensive vehicle. This creates a real divide in economic opportunities. Two is that, if there aren’t viable alternative methods of transportation, it means that people who are not safe drivers aren’t taken off the road. Three, the transportation sector in the United States is producing 28 percent of all of its greenhouse gases. This is not sustainable. To reduce greenhouse gases, we need to rethink transportation policy.
Many of the murals can be found in Buffalo’s theatre district.
