This week, I went out early to take pictures of the sunrise and the moonset. It’s been a great experience because every day brings us closer to the vernal equinox. And then, adding a full lunar eciipse to all of that was beyond wonderful. And this wonderfulness makes the pictures so much more powerful than the sords on (almost) Wordless Wednesday.
March 13th morning colors.Similar location two days earlier. The colors are less vivid, but the sky is still greeting the day.Yesterday morning, the colors seemed like they were running into each other. This morning, the colors look like streaks across the sky.The moon is big and full during the evening of March 13th. I wasn’t able to get a clear shot at night. I think that I can see the reddish nature of the blood moon, however.I was not able to take pictures of the moon high above the sky during the full lunar eclipse early on the 14th. So I sat and watched the moon vanish through the window. That was close to 3 a.m. Fortunately, Rob Erwin was able to get those images, and look how beautiful the moon is. You can see that only a small portion is illuminated at that point. It is amazingly beautiful. Thank you, Rob, for giving me permission to share your picture.Just a few days later, on the morning of March 18th, I saw the moon low in the sky, to the west. It is no longer full, but the magic is still there. To the east, I saw the sunrise. And… tomorrow is the spring equinox, when we have 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. Enjoy and look at the sunrise and the moonset and the moonrise if you have a chance.
I love your photos. Amazing!!
Thank you so much!
Such a beautiful dance between night and day! Your words and images capture the magic so perfectly.
