wintry Niagara Falls

Today, I had the chance to go to Niagara Falls for a little photography tour. Winter in Niagara Falls State Park is spectacular. Ice and snow sit in the fast-moving rapids and tall banks of snow sit next to the gushing waters of the falls. Here are some of the photographs that I took.

One of the really amazing aspects of Niagara Falls in winter is the way that the water, as it goes over the falls, disappears into the mist. The other side of the river is Niagara Falls, Ontario. A few years ago, I took pictures from that side of the river. The falls are more distant, but very spectacular.
Here is a view of the rapids full of floating ice. Once again, everything disappears into the mist.
Here is another view of the rapids, as well as the pedestrian bridge that links the mainland to Goat Island. Off of Goat Island is Three Sisters Island, which offers people the closest possible view of the rapids. Being that close to the rapids is an amazing experience.
The park is a winter wonderland.
In the winter, there are no crowds, so it’s easier to enjoy the beauty of the falls. It’s an incredible place to experience both the beauty and power of nature. I definitely recommend visiting Niagara Falls in the winter.
