Leaning, not leaping. It’s sort of like trying to decide if you’re going to go swimming outdoors on a cold day. Which is warmer… the air or the water? Should I stick a toe in? Should I run in the other direction? Except, with a new year, there’s no running in the other direction. The door to last year is now firmly closed and cannot be reopened, except in my vivid imagination. In reality, I’m working on slowly entering 2025, as if one could enter a year slowly (I know that someone will make a comment about that). It’s kind of figurative, I guess. I’m starting with a few challenges: a 31-day photography challenge and the first installment of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge 2025. The above photograph is part of the photography challenge. The prompt, from fat mum slim (she has a blog with that name, and here’s the link: (https://fatmumslim.com.au/january-2025-photo-a-day/), is; “Hi, it’s me.” So… hi, it’s me! I had a bit of fun with a cell phone and two mirrors. It took a bit to get the image that I wanted, but here it is.
Here are some other pictures of me taken in the past, some of which are selfies, so here are a few more “hi, it’s me” photographs!
Hi, it’s me, and I’ve just seen something that scared the wits out of me and caused me to be a terrified mess of flourescent colors! Oh, speaking about being a terrified mess of flourescent colors, there’s the new version of “Nosferatu.” I think that I want to see it. Vampires and all. I saw the first one, which was made in 1922 and directed by F.W. Murnau (at the movie theater; I’m older than my parents, lol) and the second one (I really did see that one in the movie theater. It was made in 1979 and directed by the amazing Werner Herzog).
Hi, it’s me! Sort of a self portrait, trapped in a mirror held up by a hand attached to an unknown someone? Maybe by the image in the mirror who decided that turnaround is fair play???
Hi, it’s me. A different silly selfie, with cell phone and mirrors. Some things never change!!!
Hi, it’s me. I had so much fun at the Orange Poppy Art Studio painting my Tea Party image. Shouldn’t a heart come out of every teacup? Maybe if I lean nicely into 2025, it will happen?
Hi, it’s me, dressed in wench garb at a renaissance festival. This one was in Sterling, New York. It was super fun to travel back to the past, with medieval music and knights jousting on horseback. Nearly everyone had on some sort of garb and it was pure delight to see people embrace their roles and live their dreams!
Happy New Year! Feel free to say anything you like in the comment section! Your comments are very much welcome!
Hi Alice! Hi, It’s Me! Love it! You sound and look like a Fun Person!! Happy New Year from Diana!
Hi, Diana! Thank you for your comment. It’s very much appreciated, and I am happy that you’re another “it’s me!” Happy New Year to you, too!
What a delightful start to the new year, Alice!
Your creative self-portraits are such so much fun —each one tells a unique story and showcases your playful spirit. I especially love the “trapped in a mirror” concept; it’s so whimsical and intriguing! Of course, you with the tremendous chair has me laughing out loud!
Your reflections on stepping into 2025 feel relatable and inspiring. Participating in the photography and blogging challenges are such a great way to embrace the year ahead with curiosity and creativity.
I am looking forward to seeing more of your artistry and musings throughout the UBC. Welcome back!
Thank you so much, Paul. I really like your perspective on this blog post which, I admit, was so much fun to put together!!! Thank you for running the Ultimate Blogging Challenge. I am so happy to participate.
Happy New Year! Love your creative energy—great mirror selfie idea and cool “Nosferatu” reference. Good luck in 2025!
Thank you so much!!! I love your blog post today!
do you have a subscription option where I get an email letting me know when you make new posts?
I don’t know. I’ll ask my webmaster when I am awake. I am 95 percent asleep right now, lol.
What a great way to bring in the New Year! I love all your photos but especially the mirror ones. So Hi from me to hi it’s you!
Hi, it’s me, thank you to hi, it’s you!!!!
You sound like a lot of fun. I’m not one that likes photos of me – and as I am often “the photographer” at events, I can escape that side of the camera.
