Images from the Grand Island Independence Day parade

It was a warm and partly sunny day, which is good weather for the parade. It’s the biggest event that is organized by the town. Many people come to watch the parade, which includes dancers, bagpipers, a giant chicken riding a motorcycle, and so much more. Candy flies everywhere, and the kids are eager to scoop it up and add it to their collections. It’s great fun for the kids, just as good as Halloween.

Horses on parade!!
One of several groups providing music at the parade.
The audience enjoys a karate demonstration.
Pom poms add to the glitz and glitter of the dance.
Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty go out for a romantic date.
How about a chicken riding a motorcycle and meeting his fan club?
Someone really enjoys watching the parade.

  1. Looks like a great day! I was supposed to walk in our local parade with my Girl Scouts troop this morning and 2 of my daughters, but I woke up with a migraine and bad asthma. Love the chicken on the motorcycle!

    1. Oh, I hope that you’re feeling better, Ronda. The parade was a great deal of fun, and the chicken on the motorcycle was a fine touch. He is actually advertising an upcoming chicken barbecue!

  2. What a delightful parade! The images really capture the spirit and fun of the Grand Island Independence Day celebration. I love the variety of activities, from the dancing and bagpipers to the whimsical sight of a giant chicken on a motorcycle. The candy showers must have been a hit with the kids, making it feel just like Halloween. Thanks for sharing these vibrant moments!
