Today, I went to two different events to take pictures for the newspaper. The two events were the Holiday Happenings at the Golden Age Center and Trunk or Treat at the library.
The Golden Age Center is a place where senior citizens can go to have lunch and enjoy such activities as French class, exercise session, kayaking (in season), group walks, pool, crafts, and more. Today’s event was for the entire community. It included a variety of vendors, who brought all sorts of products that they made, such as jams, pierogis, and baked goods. Other vendors sold second hand goods at a bargain price. There was also a basket raffle, as well as an opportunity for people to enjoy lunch.

Delicious jams, made by the very talented Mary Cooke.
The Grand Island Memorial Library’s trunk or treat event was also geared for all ages, with a focus on fun for younger children. The kids enjoyed the candy, crafts, and tours of a fire truck. One little boy was so excited about sitting in the fire truck that he would have stayed there all day if his mother hadn’t mentioned other fun activities and candy. And it took a lot of encouragement because he really loved the fire truck. One member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary said that her son was exactly like that boy. He was so excited about being in the fire truck that he didn’t want to leave. Well, guess what? He grew up and he is now a firefighter and an EMT (emergency medical technician). He knew at an early age where his happy place was.

Something has changed in me. I seem to be very very very green….
See you tomorrow when I blog about… I don’t know yet…
